Eye Health and How to Increase Eyesight

Many people suffer from myopia or impairs clear vision. About 66% of the population of industrial nations have vision problems. The number is increasing day by day. The reasons for this are; we spend a lot of time in front of computers, mobile phones and in artificial light. These gadgets put extra burden on our eye’s muscles and result in weakness of eyesight. 

Now there are many ways by which eyesight can be improved. Unfortunately, refractive errors of eyesight like myopia and astigmatism cannot be improved naturally. But diminished eyesight due to macular degeneration can be cured by nutritional changes.

  • As we know Vitamin A is beneficial for normal eyesight. Vitamin C, E and lutein are powerful antioxidants that slow the progression of macular degeneration and improve eyesight. Consumption of foods like fish, nuts, citrus fruits, leafy greens and eggs results in better eyesight. This is because all these are great sources of these vitamins.
  • Smoking can cause damage to our optic nerve and macular degeneration. Quitting smoking will lower our risk of eye disease.
  • Wearing sunglasses can also boost our eyesight and prevent eyelids cancer and cataracts.
  • Another way to improve vision is to get enough sleep. When our body rest, our eyes become renewed.

All these preventative steps will maintain our eyesight and save us from eye diseases.
